Howard - Fourth Grade

Hello My Name Is...

Rachael Howard

Mrs. Howard

                                                    My Educational Background:

Hello, everyone!  My name is Mrs. Rachael Howard, and I am in my fourth year of teaching fourth grade here at Sciotoville Elementary Academy!  I graduated in 2007 from the University of Kentucky with a B.A. in Elementary Education, and a certification in creative arts (Music, Art, Theater, and Art History).  I LOVE incorporating the creative arts in the classroom, and keeping our studies as "hands on" and exciting as possible!  Currently, I am finishing up my Masters in Clinical and Educational Counseling from Morehead State University.  I know that this experience will also help me to better meet the needs of my students.  I am very excited to make this the most productive and beneficial year possible!

                                                                     My Life:

I grew up in Lexington, KY, and moved to this area after getting married.  My husband and I have a three year old daughter named Ella, who is the light of our lives.  My hobbies include: singing, dancing, visiting my family, being outdoors, sporting events (Go CATS!), and spending time with my daughter and husband.  I also enjoy traveling to new places and countries.  I absolutely love teaching reading and social studies, and I believe that my travels provide me with more knowledge that I can share with my students in the classroom.

                                                       Classroom Information:

I will update my page weekly with any assignments that are due or important events that are coming up.  If your child has me for reading (4-1), you can find their work on my page.  If your child has Mrs. Ater for reading (4-2), you can find their work on her page.  I am extremely excited to have two smaller reading classes this year, which will promote learning and provide your child with more one-on-one instruction.

                                                             My Core Values:

The first week of school, my class learned the core values that I stand by, and expect from each student.  These values are:

                                                       *Respect
                                                   *Responsibility
                                                       *Reliability
                                                   *Accountability
                                                       *Honesty

In order for our classroom to be as productive as possible, I need to be able to count on the students to be ready to go each day, with homework prepared to turn in, a positive attitude, and to give their absolute best effort on each assignment.  Failure is simply not an option.  We will work hard together, and I can assure you that with a winning attitude, your child will excel in my classroom.  I can't wait to watch their progress this year!

                                                      Agenda Books/Planners:

Your child will be bringing this home each night.  They are given time at the end of each day to record any homework that needs to be completed for the following day.  This is a great way for them to be responsible for their homework, and to keep you informed on what is due.  Please help to remind them that these folders should come back to school every morning.

                                                              Contacting Me:

If at any time you need to speak with me this year, please feel free to send me an email!  I love hearing from you, and keeping in contact with you about your child!  My email is Rachael.Howard@sea.k12.oh.us.  We can set up meetings, or set up a time during my planning to chat on the phone about any questions or concerns you may have.

With your help, we can make the transition from home to school easier.  I hope that the students will begin to feel like they have a home away from home in my classroom.  Thank you for all that you do, and Go Tartans!
